Row Row Row was inspired by the seigneurial lot system that was used to divide settled land in Fort Garry, and throughout Winnipeg, into long, narrow properties running from the river and into the adjacent prairies. Each lot had access to the river, a homestead, farmland and prairie for hay collection. Row Row Row represents the distinctly linear seigneurial lots, which have been elevated from their otherwise flattened plan to a vertical one, creating an immediately recognizable Red River-shaped beacon to serve as a guide for the Clarence Station.
