The Swan Valley Regional Secondary School Cultural Arts Centre creates common ground between school, town, and neighboring First Nations. Through Indigenous Design Consultation, Elders and students shaped a theatre to support celebration and ceremony in Swan River, Manitoba. The multi-use building hosts performance and multimedia production while offering flexible space for intergenerational cultural teaching. Tucked into the school's southeast corner, the design opens to an exterior gathering place with ceremonial fire pit and native planting. Behind the theatre, a sunlit workshop transforms traditional backstage space into a year-round classroom where Elders and teachers share knowledge through performance, craft, and ceremony.
